Thanks for the help. Never saw any signs of wear or such. Changed the pistons and install a seal kit. Concern is gone.

This one's going down the road for a new engine. I checked the cam timing, and verified there was no problem there, checked compression and found one cylinder was at 130 PSI with all the rest hovering around 160-175 psi.
