Hi Dan-- Pull the cap and check the centrifugal and vacuum advance mechanisms.. They tend to stick or freeze up.. Backfire thru carb can also indicate lean condition.. Red hot manifolds can be due to lean condition and plus timing.. Is this engine egr equipped... Login to read more.
