You have the right idea. The PCM puts 5 volts on the sensor line, and the map sensor pulls it down. That's why you need to check for the 5 volts with the sensor unplugged. The sensor won't "pull up" 0 volts from a bad computer. What looks like a bad sensor can... Login to read more.
