Ditto on the secondary side air hole. I had the same problem on an 84 New Yorker with a 2.6; if you put your finger over the hole in the side of the secondary throat, the whooshing sound went away and the idle smoothed out. IIRC there was a brass hex plug you ... Login to read more.
