On the 4.3 and 5.7 Vortec engines, the Cam retard IS adjustable - it's the distributor. BUT make sure that you check the cam retard with the RPM above 1100. Else you'll get a false reading. the spec is 0 degrees +/- 2 degrees. I have found many DIYers... Login to read more.
