I'd highly recommend an archive search on this. It sounds a lot like a faulty pickup coil. Once the bypass signal is received by the ICM I believe a slight load is applied to the pickup coil, reducing its output if weak. This causes a loss of DREF to the PCM, ... Login to read more.
