Intermittent Loss of Communication with PCM
Posted to Technical Discussion Forum on 5/14/2025 27 Replies

This car has got me baffled. It intermittently loses communication with the PCM. When this happens, the gauges start to fluctuate or they don't move at all. The weird things is that is that when this happens, I can still start the car, and when I check the resistance of the network, I am at the 60 ohms, which leads me to believe all the wiring is good. It just doesn't make sense that if I loss communication with the PCM that the car still starts.

I thought there might be an issue with the PCM, so I tried a new one, but still could not communicate with the new one. OK maybe there is a problem with the TCM and the network goes from the PCM to the TCM to the rest of the car, but it still does it.

I'm leaning towards a wiring problem, but I physically don't see any problems, and I have continuity between the wires from the PCM to the TCM.

Any other suggestions?
