With a voltmeter 2.5V or thereabout is correct for CAN lines. A voltmeter doesnt really tell the story tho, ideally what you would want to see using a scope is 2.5volt bias on the line then the "high" gets toggled up to 3.5V and the "low" gets toggled to 1.5V ... Login to read more.
