right side intake cam lobes badly worn
Posted to Technical Discussion Forum on 9/17/2023 34 Replies

Hi, this is my daughters car. codes for random misfire and # 1 and sometimes # 5 cylinders pulled valve cover see that all the intake cam lobes and rockers are pretty badly worn. Last year she took it to the dealer still under warranty with 61000 miles running rough and misfire #5 cylinder they said they switched #5 coil with #3 road tested and said no codes set and ran good. when they got it back it was running good. After a time she kept on telling me it was running rough when i would drive it it felt ok but would always have that random misfire code. This time it had a misfire code for #1 and all that noise under the valve cover. The plugs and coils test good and the spark is strong. What I wonder is could the random misfires be from the cam lifters and rocker arms all along? I see that the rockers go bad a lot on the older 3.6 this has those 2 step rockers with rollers and slides. Is this a common problem on these? Some thing wrong with oiling system? It has 87000 miles now.
