The crank sprocket has two drilled holes which are the
perfect size for tapping an 8mm tread. Why didn't the
factory finish the job? who knows?
I had a similar issue on an 2008 legacy. Came in running,
changed timing belt, would not start, just popped and
backfired. Took it apart examined everything, just popped.
Took apart again and noticed the teeth had a worn look like
they had been grinding on the sensor. Put a good used one on
and it ran fine! Spookey.
