I have replaced the 6 volt battery's with 8 volt on many older tractors, 8 volt fits rite in the box, make sure all the battery cables are 6 volt gauge (2/0) . Most 8 volt battery's have a tag to adjust the regulator to 8.3 volts. I switch most of them to 12 v... Login to read more.
