I don't use these self exciting on newer vehicles. Prehistoric sound about just right!! Maybe a John Deere 4020, 1950's generator vehicle, Farmall Super C etc... 50's and 60's stuff. When they are "wired", no self exciting- they don't cut off if the alternator... Login to read more.
