I wasn't aware of the different functions of the ECT sensors. Thanks for posting that. I think I'll try the resistor idea after all.

The customer asked us to disable the system, but I wasn't sure if there's a way to program it off similar to GM AFM or Chrysler MSD.

I'm fairly sure the problem isn't ignition related. It only happens when cruising at a steady speed and it's very severe. Sometimes it will keep doing it even if I upshift, and it usually quits if I completely let off the throttle. So far it has always stopped if I clear the codes. My theory on that is it resets the PCM and stops whatever part of the system is malfunctioning.
