I do not rebuild these (NV 4500), but I work almost exclusively on diesel pickups and especially this genra. I will dissent with most of the posters, once you "loose" 5th gear. If the nut did loosen, the gear slips back and you will have 1 to 4 + reverse only.... Login to read more.
