Rick, I can't answer the first question but the second one is a common occurrence on many mid-2000s and up vehicles(especially asian). The theory is let's hold out in the lower gear based upon speed/load/throttle so the car doesn't upshift, downshift, upshift ... Login to read more. ![]()
