IIRC, the earlier design 3800 CKP's were much more prone to failure than the one you have. My '99 C3500 7.4 has 274,000 on the original crank sensor. I took it on a 3200 mile trip in July pulling 6,000 lbs. of trailer and didn't give it a second thought.
