Broken a/c line from compressor to condenser
Posted to Technical Discussion Forum on 11/16/2018 22 Replies

2018 Ford F550 Super Duty 6.7 diesel. Has broken the a/c line from the compressor to the condenser 5 times in 31,000 miles. Has been repaired under warranty, usually lasts about a month, don't think it did this for the first half of its life with us. Line always breaks right where it attached to the flange on the a/c compressor. The dealer has replaced the line 5 times, the compressor multiple times, the condenser and even the evaporator. The evaporator was replaced due to a/c pressures not equalizing when shut off, have seem this on several of our units but did not cause any problems. We are a fleet company with several hundred super duty's, mostly gas but all of our F550's are diesel and probably only 10 or so are 2018 models. Another Ford dealer that I used to work at said they have been replacing evaporators for the pressure problem. There is no braces on this line, it makes a bit u-shaped loop toward the top of the engine before it connects to the condenser, probably 30 inches total length. Any suggestions? Also has a small accumulator built into the line
