This thread confuses me. Many of GM's V6 engines did take 4.5 qts (4.25 L), but the 3.5L engine takes 4 qts, or 3.8 L. And it sounds like you continue to add 4.5L which would (slightly) overfill even the traditional 4.5 qt oil change engines.
