Damon, we have had this issue. It happened with a 1999 Explorer 5.0. As with you, it surged , the check engine light was on with a synchronizer code. There was nothing wrong with the synchronizer or the pcm. I had a thought that AC Voltage may be causing the i... Login to read more.
