It's been a long while, but I'm pretty sure this has hydraulic lifters; they were phased in for the 235 engines starting with the 53 or 54 Powerglide models, and were standard by 56 or so. I'm trying to remember what my 55 3100 had, but that prolly ain't gonna... Login to read more.
