IIRC, on the 5.4 at least, there are PIDS for valve timing advance/retard that show as a histogram on IDS, and if the rattle is from phazers you should see the positions bouncing around zero instead of fixed at zero. Might work on 3.5 (?). Of course, all my ID... Login to read more.
