Noise only on startup for 2-3 seconds
Customer came in with own timing chain Kit (Evergreen [...] Timing chain Kit) purchased price of 188.95 from Amazon. He was told from the dealership the timing chain was the noise, its a 17.5 hour job. I changed the kit that he provided along with new Valve covers, Spark plugs, plenum gasket, front crank seal, drive belts, solenoid gaskets(2), secondary front cover o-rings(2), oil pump o-ring, cam sensor o-rings (4), and replaced the connecting rod bearings (12) that we got from the dealership except the for the plugs and plenum gasket we got from local auto parts place. We noticed copper like glittery substance in the lower oil pan cleaned out as much as possible. Customer stated that he used to live in the desert. Now he still has the same noise on startup. Vehicle runs great and if you restart the vehicle it will not make the noise on startup till you wait 20 minutes or more. Sounds like a tensioner is not holding the chains for one of the cams but can't determine what is making the noise.
