I never use it on the gaskets, only the castings. Some MLS (multi layer steel) gaskets suggest or recommend sealer be used. I don't think any OE head gasket requires a sealer. Gaskets that have viton on them, or OE gaskets with built on sealers need to "bite" ... Login to read more.
