If the purge valve is stuck open, vapor, not liquid fuel is forced into the intake manifold. Filling with only 1.5 gallons of fuel does not force as much vapor in, thus no symptoms. If you were to refuel a nearly empty tank, the intake would be 'flooded' with ... Login to read more.
