I have come to the same conclusion.

Using SAE J533 Double flare tooling and skipping the 45 degree flaring step, "CAN" obtain a "bubble" that is "similar" to the Old Bubble flare. But, that's not what it was orignally designed for and it's significantly diff... Login to read more.
