Hi Geoff. Sorry, I missed your message. GM has used vacuum pumps to assist engines that had marginal vacuum for many years, such as AFM equipped engines.

The old 1980s Cadillac 4,6,8 engine had an engine driven pump and so did the Cadillac HT4100 engine.
