TORQUE TO YIELD BOLTS AND IMPACT WRENCHS
Can an impact gun be used on stretch bolt safely? Specific problem is with timing belt install. The crank bolt is 74 ft lbs + 90 degree, +15 degree. Alldata tells us to hold pulley with strap wrench to set. 74 ft lbs ok. But trying to hold and stretch is proving to be very difficult if not impossible. Can we use an impact on the bolt to stretch or will this damage bolt or not be accurate in some manner? Have never contemplated this before. Any and all comments welcomed.
