This is a 56 so it's a 12 volt system (55's were 6 volt). It should have a gauge constant voltage regulator on the back side of the instrument cluster that sends a pulsing 12 volts to the gauge. These are thermal/electric gauges that use bimetal strips to move... Login to read more.
