IF a GM cap and rotor were not used I'd agree with Dean. I haven't looked at the first post you refer to so maybe you detailed that elsewhere. At any rate I wouldn't go past step one without a new GM cap/rotor. You can see the spark events on your scope captur... Login to read more.
