Hardware change means timing change?

Had a 93 Chevy G30 in here the other day,runs FINE but MIL lit, code 43, which reappeared right after resetting it. ESC is built in on this one, and diagnostics revealed MEM-CAL or ECM problem. Since the PROM was superceded, I bought both.
