Gary, I'm not 100% sure on the 1990 model 5.2, but I think you'll find that the timing is not controlled by the distributor. You do have to sync the distributor to avoid crossfire in the cap...the DRBIII and the Snap-On scanner both have the means to do this. ... Login to read more.
