done it both ways, I prefer NOT lifting the cab just to prevent any unwanted extra work or possible unintended damage. That said it is a PITA as the 12mm 12pt bolts used seem to all have been tightened by King Kong. Only tool you should need *if you dont alrea... Login to read more.
