I think you'll find cutting the dash to be a bad plan. Mitchell shows 5.5 customer pay and 4.0 warranty. Pull the wheel well liner on the passenger side to get to the bolts engine side, drop the column whole, unbolt the dash and pop it out. Very easy job.
