Hi Greg -- Spark plugs removed? If not possiable coolant/ headgasket problem. Note had 2.2 with a crack in exhaust passage, actually ran good till shut-down when coolant would fill cylinder and cause a bad clunk on intial crank and start-up.. Good Luck.. Login to read more.
