Re: 1984 4.9 exhaust manifold gasket
Yes, there is a TSB that says when replacing exhaust
manifold to NOT use a gasket, because it insulates it from
the engine block. If the manifold is insulated from the
block it cannot dissipate it's heat into the block and it
will warp and/or crack. ![]()
