I should have qualified the manifold R&R. The OP has a Passat. The Passat and A4 we leave the manifold alone. The Jetta/Golf 1.8 engines do need the manifold removed. I guess that is a personal preference. You are right, all the pieces get changed as they fall... Login to read more.
