My understanding is that the slots and chamfers are simply for NVH purposes...to "tune" the pad and minimize harmonics. The chamfer is there to reduce the bite at the leading edge and reduce the tendency of the pad to twist in the caliper.... Think bicycle wit... Login to read more.
