I just looked at EGR discription for an 87 2.8L, it should use a ported type, with a ecm controlled solenoid. So the imformation I gave did not apply to your vehicle. It did mention a EGR vacum switch on 2.8L vehicles to monitor vacum to the valve. Login to read more.
