I don't understand what you mean by 'amperage spike'. Normally an amp clamp will only register current that is being consumed by a device. A battery has 500 to 1000 amps available. If you hook up a 194 bulb to it, it doesn't blow the bulb or register 250 amps ... Login to read more.
