The d16y7 is a none vtec motor, and the d16y8 is a vtec engine. The y7 has the oil ports blocked for the vtec solenoid, and also it does not have a third lobe on the cams (nor any of the lost motion assembly) you absolutely need a y8 engine. Login to read more.
