Why?

Take a GM 3.1 DIS V-6 and look at the polarity at the coils.

Why are 1, 2, and 6 one polarity and 3,4,and 5 the other? Why not just make each bank the same? I've switched 6 and 3 at the coils and noted no difference in driveability.
