If I recall my old Ford diagnostics class- the "notch" in the PIP signal is the pcm controlling ignition advance. The TFI mod/ halleffect sensor generates the PIP signal- pcm reads it, calculates advance for the next event & "pulls down" the corner of the PIP ... Login to read more.
