Yes, there is really a gray area. By definition a rheostat is a two-terminal variable resistor. A potentiometer, connected as a potentiometer, is not really used to vary the resistance in the circuit. A potentiometer can certainly be connected as a rheostat. N... Login to read more. ![]()
