One other thing if they bind the crosshaft may be set too tight Loosen th elocknut Tighten the cross shaft screw till the backlash just disappears and then the screw in 1/2 to 3/8 of a turn and then tighten the locknut to 50 ft lbs. From my 1971 Chilton manual... Login to read more.
