Yes , I have seen many GM V engines wear out the Dist. gear, Mainly high mile [...] plastic distributer seems to have more ''drag'' than the older aluminum ones. Or maybe using thicker oil puts more strain on them [ remember,they also drive the oil pump].Maybe... Login to read more.
