Es tires were shot, maybe the AWD unit is shot? Some AWD units are very sensitive to tire size. If one tire is spinning slightly slower or faster than another then internal clutch damage could occur. Maybe it has some clutch chatter? Not sure about Volkswagens... Login to read more.
