You could always try a cranking CO2 test to check the Cat's capability. With the engine and Cat FULLY warmed up, (at LEAST 3 minutes of 2,500 rpm) disable spark, crank it for about 15 seconds and watch the 4-gas readings. The HC should be under 500 ... Login to read more.
