That sounds a lot like one I worked on eons ago. The EVP sensor was the culprit. Someone ground down the rod to put the sensor in range, so it didn't set a code, but the EGR was open just enough to cause those symptoms. I've seen quite a few like it. EECIV suc... Login to read more.
