Why would this valve burn?

Hmmm.....maybe this should be in the Theory Forum....

Greetings all,

Why do valves burn such as this ?

This is out of a 1992 Integra GS-R VTEC engine (that I pulled the head on this morning, and just this one exhaust valve was burnt.
