Trigger? The crank sensor (engine RPM) on this engine should be a three wire Hall Effect, it uses either a 8-9 volt or 5.0 volt power supply, a 5.0 signal wire, with the third wire being sensor ground.

You'll need a scope to see the square wave pattern.
